Video Settings

The Video tab is used to control settings specific to video creation.

Filename

This displays the name of the file that will be made when the video is recorded. By default its name is derived from the name of the project file. The extension will depend upon the Codec settings chosen below. This can be overridden by unchecking the 'Use default filename' box.

Output formats that produce more than one file will use this name as a stub and attach numerals to the end.

Video Codec

This drop-down box allows the format of the output file to be chosen. The chosen format can be configured using the 'Configure' button. There are several format options:

  • Still Image Sequence (PNG/TIF/JPG) - The video is saved out to multiple files, one image for each frame. The configuration settings allow you to choose which image format should be used, the quality of the images and whether to include an alpha channel, when these options are available.
  • Flash Movie (SWF) - Creates a flash movie. Each frame of the movie is an image. The configuration settings allow you to choose lossy (jpg) or lossless (png) images, the quality of the images and whether to include an alpha channel, when these options are available.
  • Uncompressed AVI - The video is created as an uncompressed avi file. There are no configuration settings.
  • Various Video Codecs - Blaze 3D Studio will offer any video codecs which you have installed on your machine. They each prescribe their own configuration settings.

Render only

Check this box to limit the number of frames which should be included in the video.

Restart movie on record

Check this box to have the movie automatically restart when you begin recording.

Render from

This box allows you to choose the movie clip which will be the top level of your video. The default is _level0, which includes everything in the display. To specify another movie clip, you should write its path from _level0. For example, if your 3d were placed in a movieclip on _level0 called "mc3d", you should enter _level0.mc3d to record only the 3d content.
